Pre-Built Sheds - The Quick And Easy Storage Solution

If DYI projects are not your thing, and you don’t even want to lift a tool, there are companies that sell pre-built sheds that can be delivered to you fully assembled. There are also distributers of shed kits that offer complete on site assembly of garden sheds by team professional installers. They will even come in a pour a foundation for your shed in advance. The downside is that these sheds come with a high price tag.

But, if you are willing to do some of the work, there are many other pre-built shed options available.  All of these sheds come in kits that are prefabricated to varying degrees. The building kits can be ordered from local distributors or purchased on-line and will be delivered to your home ready to assemble.

Garden storage sheds made from plastics are the simplest and quickest to assemble. Plastic shed kits come with molded plastic panels made from UV resistant polymer resin, vinyl or high density polyethylene. In many of the smaller shed models, the plastic pieces simply snap together and assembly can be completed in a matter of minutes. The larger plastic sheds come with wall, roof and floor panels that are pre-drilled. They fit together easily and are screwed into place. Doors, windows and skylights are pre-assembled and simple to install. These sheds come with detailed installation instructions and all of the parts are marked. You need only put them together in the correct order using a couple of simple tools. Some kits also include shelving, work benches, peg strips and battery operated lights.

Metal shed kits are a little more challenging to assemble. They come with pre-cut, pre-drilled roof and wall pieces and easy to follow building instructions. Most metal shed kits do not come with floors, so if you want a floor in your shed, you will have to build it yourself. To avoid problems with rust and dents, buy a kit made from galvanized steel coated with vinyl.

Wood sheds usually require the most time and labor to assemble from a kit. These shed kits come with measured, pre-cut lumber; pre-framed doors and windows; all the hardware you need for assembly and detailed step-by-step building plans. All of the pieces are numbered or marked and you put them together like a giant erector set. Wooden shed kits come unfinished and you will have to finish the exterior and interior of the shed yourself. You will need to purchase either paint or siding for the exterior of the building and shingles the roof. You can purchase pre-built shelving units, work benches and solar-powered shed lights for the interior.

If you want a shed that is very low maintenance, a plastic shed is your best bet. They are generally durable, weatherproof and only require occasional cleaning; wipe surfaces with a damp cloth or spray the shed down with a garden hose. Metal sheds, although very strong and long lasting, have a tendency to rust and don’t fare well in damp climates. With regular maintenance, wooden sheds weather well and can give you many years of use. Whatever type of shed you choose, pre-built sheds can provide a quick and easy solution to all your storage problems.
